Why tallow?

We use beef tallow for many reasons, but the first is this. It just makes the best soap.

Our skin just simply loves tallow.

Tallow is extremely beneficial for sensitive, reactive, or tender skin. Even babies love it!

The beef tallow we use is taken out of the waste stream so less trash goes to the landfill.

It is our mission at Whitehall Soapery to turn tallow, a waste product, into beautiful artisan soaps using all natural ingredients whenever possible.

Only the best

Saying that tallow "just makes the best soap" is a pretty big claim. But we at Whitehall Soapery stand by it. Tallow just makes the best soap.

Tallow soap is gentle, creamy, luxurious, and sympathetic to all skin types. I use my soap when bathing my babies and they love it! It is pleasant and soft on their skin while still getting the job done. It does not matter what type of skin you have, young or old, hardy or sensitive, indifferent or reactive. Your skin will love tallow soap.

Go back to the source

Fat. Fat is everything. All soap is made of fat transformed by lye. All fats are different. Olive oil is liquid at room temperature whereas coconut is solid. What sets tallow apart? Why do we not make vegan soaps like so many other soapmakers?

Every fat is its own special mix of fatty acids. Even our own human fat has a certain composition. Animal fats like beef tallow have a mix very similar to our own fat. Olive oil or palm oil are completely different.

Most people have no issue with olive oil, because their skin is not that reactive. But for people with sensitive or reactive skin it is a real problem! Their skin often treats other things as foreign attackers. It does not recognize them as friendly. But beef tallow is so similar to our own fat that the skin sees it as family and says, "I know you!" Tallow is wonderful for all skin types, but particularly sensitive skin!

Using a waste product

The tallow we use to make our soap is rescued from the landfill. The fat trimmings would normally be thrown away, but we take it, render it, and use it to make a useful product for our homes. Even a waste resource can become something beautiful! Taking care of what we have been given is part of our goal of Christian Stewardship.

Soli Deo Gloria

Whitehall Soapery is a Christian business. We follow our Savior Jesus Christ and confess that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Him. Jesus Christ died on the cross to take our sins away and to give us eternal life. We show our love and gratitude by pledging to Him our willing service wherever and whenever He has need of us. We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands, our voice to sing His praises, our lips to proclaim His redeeming love, our silver and our gold to extend His Kingdom, and our will to do His will.

Whitehall Soapery tithes 10% of all profits to our local church and other Christian charities that aid the ailing and the lost in our local community.
